Philosophy

While I am currently the sole developer of Kronotop, I use “we” throughout this document in the spirit of open-source collaboration — to acknowledge the ideas I’ve drawn from, the community I hope to build, and the shared effort that great systems are always built upon.

While designing and developing Kronotop, we never lost sight of the following quotes. They remind us that engineering is not just about code — it is about clarity, respect for truth, and the courage to build what has never been built.

I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

— Albert Einstein, '"What Life Means to Einstein: An Interview by George Sylvester Viereck" The Saturday Evening Post (26 October 1929)'

We have been given the scientific knowledge, the technical ability, and the materials to pursue the exploration of the universe. To ignore these great resources would be a corruption of a God-given ability.

— Wernher von Braun

What Des-Cartes [sic] did was a good step. You have added much several ways, & especially in taking the colours of thin plates into philosophical consideration. If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.

— Isaac Newton, Letter to Robert Hooke, 5 February 1675.

It can scarcely be denied that the supreme goal of all theory is to make the irreducible basic elements as simple and as few as possible without having to surrender the adequate representation of a single datum of experience.

Often quoted as ‘Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler’

— Albert Einstein, 'On the Method of Theoretical Physics', lecture delivered at Oxford, 10 June 1933

What I cannot create, I do not understand.

— Richard Feynman

Simple things should be simple, complex things should be possible.
